Palworld Breaks Steam Record with Over a Million Concurrent Players
Palworld, also known as “Pokémon with guns,” has seen a surge in popularity since its early access release on Steam and Xbox Series X/S last Friday. With over four million copies sold and more than a million concurrent players on Steam, the game has surpassed the records set by popular titles like Cyberpunk 2077, Baldur’s Gate 3, and Elden Ring.
Peak concurrent players have reached 1.2 million in the last 24 hours, making Palworld the most popular game on Steam. It has even come close to matching Dota 2’s record of 1,295,114 concurrent players, despite facing server outages that are inhibiting co-op gameplay.
Despite the game’s immense success, players are currently facing server outages due to the overwhelming demand. Developer Pocketpair has been addressing these issues, along with advising players against using an in-game item that may lead to permanent bugs.
Players are advised not to use the “Memory Reset Drug” as it may cause irreversible bugs, resulting in a permanent reduction in their capture power. The development team is actively working to resolve this issue, but in the meantime, they have requested players to refrain from using the item.
While Palworld continues to attract massive sales and break concurrent player records, some Pokémon fans have expressed their concerns about the game’s similarities to the Pokémon franchise.
