Pirate CRPG Flint: Treasure of Oblivion launches on PS5 later this year
Developer Savage Level and publisher Mycroids have unveiled their latest project, the upcoming tactical RPG Flint: Treasure of Oblivion. Set to release on PlayStation 5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S in late 2024, this swashbuckling adventure promises to immerse players in a world of treasure and danger.
Drawing inspiration from the classic 1883 novel Treasure Island, Savage Level aims to accurately depict the time period while infusing a touch of dark fantasy into the gameplay experience. Players can expect a narrative that unfolds like a thrilling pirate tale, filled with twists, turns, and unexpected challenges.
While Flint: Treasure of Oblivion may not be aiming for AAA status, it draws influence from successful CRPGs like Baldur’s Gate 3 and 40K: Rouge Trader. Fans of these games will find familiar elements, such as dice rolls in combat and strategic decision-making.
One unique aspect of Flint is its emphasis on crew synergies, allowing players to strategically pair up their pirates to enhance combat effectiveness. Additionally, the game eschews traditional leveling systems in favor of a loot-based progression system where items and upgrades are purchased with gold.
Captain Flint’s journey may be more linear compared to some RPGs, but players can still expect a choice-based narrative experience delivered through comic book-style cutscenes. The game encourages exploration, combat, and diplomacy as players navigate the treacherous waters of the high seas in search of treasure and glory.
