Hello everyone, and welcome to the week! It’s time once again for our look back at the noteworthy updates of the last seven days. Love is in the air! Or is it? I actually expected there to be more Valentine’s Day updates all around, but I suppose it is a somewhat minor holiday in the scheme of things. Romantic or not, I’ve got a batch of updates for you enjoy with your morning coffee. Of course, you can keep an eye out for updates yourself by participating in the TouchArcade forums. This weekly summary is just here to fill you in on the things you might have missed. Let’s go for it!
Punch Kick Duck, Free
I really have been meaning to get around to reviewing this, I promise. It’s just been a busy month for me. Anyway, Punch Kick Duck kind of rules. You should play it if you haven’t. This update is mainly some balance tweaks, making the bear run a little slower on lower difficulty settings and fixing a couple of bugs. Nothing too major. It’s mostly here because I haven’t done my review yet and I want to tell everyone to play this. So yes, play it.
Tiny Tower: 8 Bit Retro Tycoon, Free
Oh my, this is a big one. A new gameplay feature has been added to Tiny Tower: Legendary Bitizens. It’s a little complicated and certainly a new way for people to sink extra money into the game, but the result is some super-cute Bitizens to collect and upgrade, so who is to say if it is wrong or right? There are also a few new costumes and pets to add to your tower independent of all of that. Keep on building. And rebuilding. You know how it goes.
Zookeeper World,
There are a lot of Apple Arcade updates to catch up on today, and I reckon we’ll start with this one. I’m also going to say that it serves the role of our obligatory free-to-play matching update for this week because I don’t have room to stuff Toon Blast in here this time. This update adds new Puzzle Battle Events where you go against other players for points and other goodies. You also get some new puzzle stages to play. Those won’t pop until next week, but I’m sure you can find things to busy yourself with until then.
Jetpack Joyride 2,
We had Jetpack Joyride in the line-up last week, and now we’ve got the sequel featured this week. The latest update adds in a new volume to the sticker album, a new Chinese New Year-themed skin, a new Wild Wild Rex avatar, the Robo-Rex vehicle itself in the Wild Wild West, and a bunch of bug fixes and performance tweaks. That is probably not enough text for my formatting to work properly, so I’m just going to stand here and jingle my keys for a while to distract you until we’ve got enough. Right, that should do it. Moving right along.
Gear.Club Stradale,
Oh no, this one is going to be even harder to fill out. Well, we’re too far in to go back now. This latest update adds a new Daily Quest feature to give you some stuff to work on each day, plus a Daily Reward system that offers up some goodies for checking in regularly. There’s a new car to pick up, and rewards have been tweaked so that longer races give better rewards. Roll in some bug fixes and that about covers it. Is that enough? Did we do it? Maybe we did now. I hope the next one has more to talk about.
Angry Birds Reloaded,
Well, it’s Angry Birds Reloaded. I see a theme forming here. This update has a new episode for you to play with a magical theme, adding in a portal mechanic to spice things up a little. If you finish the episode you’ll apparently get some kind of reward, so you may want to give that a go. There are also some Valentine’s Day themed costumes for the birds, so that’s something. Other than that, you’ve got some UI tweaks, bug fixes, and various enhancements. The usual stuff we all know and love.
Goat Simulator+,
Another update to the Apple Arcade version of Goat Simulator, and another expansion added to it. This time it’s the Waste of Space content, which sends your goat into orbit for some interstellar shenanigans. Does this have anything to do with Valentine’s Day? The update notes are trying to make the connection, and if I’ve learned anything over the years it’s that the update notes for Goat Simulator never ever lie.
WHAT THE GOLF?,
Finally, some real Valentine’s Day food. In the latest version of What The Golf, you can enjoy the Love Birdies event. It brings together the two most natural-to-combine things in the world: love and golf. You can expect a lot of groan-worthy puns and some fine golfing action. Okay, maybe more like absurd golfing action. But there is more golfing action, and that’s pretty much what we’re looking for in a game like this one when it gets a new update.
Fallen Knight,
Is this the first time I’ve featured this one in these articles? Perhaps. My memory is getting fuzzy these days. Anyway, this is a fairly substantial update. It adds the Rise of the Fallen story content to the game, with a new stage and boss to battle. Lancelot gets a new angel form, and there are new upgrades and skills to unlock. Bug fixes? You bet your bibby babkas there are bug fixes. It would be rude if there weren’t any.
Disney Magic Kingdoms, Free
Wow, we’re at the end already, eh? I guess this wins the coveted UMMSotW award for this week by default. I hope it’s good. Oh, it’s a fairly big update based on Pixar’s Soul. In Japan, that movie is called Soulful World. Just a little trivia for you. So, new characters. Joe Gardner and 22 of course. Dorothea Williams, Moonwind, and Mr. Mittens round things out. Moonwind gets a Soul World costume, and there are new Jazz Club and The Great Before attractions to add to your park. You also get new concessions in the form of the New York-Style Pizza Stand and Mr Mittens Milkshake Mug Stand. And of course, there is a Soul Parade Float. Nice to see the carpet rolled out for this movie. It’s a good one that a lot of people missed.
That about wraps it up for last week’s significant updates. I’m sure I’ve missed some, though, so please feel free to comment below and let everyone know if you think something should be mentioned. As usual, major updates will likely get their own news stories throughout this week, and I’ll be back next Monday to summarize and fill in the blanks. Have a great week!
