After completing the story quest ‘The Elf, the Nab-Sack, and the Loom,’ one of the most alluring features in any video game is unlocked: capturing animals. Or, in the case of Hogwarts Legacy, magical beasts, and putting them in an enclosure to feed and groom. You may be forgiven for immediately unlocking this and setting off to capture every magical beast in the game (not naming names, but speaking from experience). If this description happens to apply to you, here’s where to find all beasts in Hogwarts Legacy.

Hogwarts Legacy: Magical beasts and where to find all of them
In total, there are 13 different beasts you can find and capture in Hogwarts Legacy, and all but three have multiple den locations on the map.
Puffskein
Right outside of southern Hogsmeade (encountered in the starting quest).
By the south edge of the Forbidden Forest.
South of the Phoenix Mountain Den.
Note: Some beasts in Hogwarts Legacy aren’t ones you can find until you manage to get to the south part of the world map. If you want to know how to access this area, follow our guide.
Next to the Southern Coast Manor.
South of Clagmar Castle.
Mooncalf
North of the Quidditch field at the Floo Station named ‘Mooncalf Den’ (this is where you capture one in the starting quest).
In the Forbidden Forest.
Edge of the Forbidden Forest
Next to Poidsear Castle.
Jobberknoll
Jobberknolls have the most dens of any beast you can find in Hogwarts Legacy:
Down the path from the Mooncalf Den Floo Station (the location from the starting quest; this one is not marked on your map as a den).
Forbidden Forest area, east of the North Ford Bog Entrance Floo Station.
West of Irondale.
Next to Marunweem.
Southeast of Bainburgh.
By the castle ruins south of Southern Coast Manor.
Unicorn
Unicorns are only found at a spot in the Forbidden Forest.
Fwooper
Near the Rookwood Castle Floo Station.
Near the Phoenix Mountain Den Floo Station, up on a mountain path.
On the northwestern side of the Clagmar Coast. (Note: this den is marked as two dens on the map, but they both lead to the same spot).

Niffler
Southeast of the Fieldcroft Catacombs.
Northwest of the Phoenix Mountain Den.

South of Cragcroft.
Giant Purple Toad
At a lake on the western edge of the Forbidden Forest near the West Forbidden Forest Floo Station.
North of Aranshire below the bridge.
Hippogriff
Forbidden Forest.
On the hill Northeast of Feldcroft.
Poidsear area, near the western coast.
Next to the castle ruins south from the Southern Coast Manor.

Kneazle
East of Irondale.
Southwest of Marumweem and West of Bainburgh.
West of Clagmar Castle.
North of Cragcroft.
Thestral
Near the Eastern edge of the Forbidden Forest in the bog.
The southeastern edge of the map.
Diriclaw
On the hill south of Keenbridge.
Southwest of Marumweem.
Not all magic beasts to find in Hogwarts Legacy are easy to get to
Graphorn
Southeast of Clagmar Castle. Unlike most beasts, you can find the den location for the Graphorn in Hogwarts Legacy in the south part of the map, but you won’t be able to capture it until you progressed enough into the main story.
Phoenix
The Phoenix is found inside the Phoenix Mountain Cave, but is locked behind a story quest from Deek. This one is the final challenge of capturing beasts, so complete all of Deek’s quests and progress the main story to confront it.
With that, you now know where to find the locations of the beasts of Hogwarts Legacy. Have fun catching them all.
