How to Reach Ineluctable Prison

To get to the Ineluctable Prison in Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous, you’ll want to talk to Iomedae near the start of Act 5. Ask her about her herald, the Hand of the Inheritor, whom you last saw captured and tortured by Baphomet. You’ll then receive the Your Bones Will Join the Myriad Others quest.

From there, make your way to the far west of Drezen, well past Pulura’s Fall. The closest landmark is the Place of Execution, which happens to be where you can find Corrupted Arueshalae and the Legacy of the Ancients slabs/tablets.

Obelisks, Magic Circles, and Riddles

Once inside, you’ll want to watch out for the following:

  • Obelisks – While trekking in the dungeon, you’ll be afflicted with a ward save debuff. This comes from Obelisks, and the effect only emanates from certain areas. If you destroy the Obelisks with an Athletics check, you’ll be able to cleanse the debuff.
  • Riddles – Some scrawled info and prisoner ramblings are actually hints. These will help you solve the Ineluctable Prison puzzles in Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous, though we do have the necessary info below.
  • Magic Circles – You’ll see these on the ground, which you can interact with via a Use Magic Device check. Doing so will reveal hidden staircases and pathways.

Ineluctable Prison Puzzles and Map

In any case, you’ll see a map of the dungeon below. Moreover, this guide section will focus primarily on the Ineluctable Prison puzzles in Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous. We’ll still talk about the other important tidbits, though this part will look at the three wall puzzles.

Puzzle #1

The first Ineluctable Prison puzzle in Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous can be found in the Blood Fountain Room, which is where the Giant Worm also appears (seen in the featured image). The solution is: Circle -> Triangle -> Pentagon -> Hexagon.

Puzzle #2: Nameless Ruins Mask

The second can be spotted as you make your way east then north, after taking out one of Baphomet’s Chosen. The solution is: Diamond -> Triangle -> Hexagon -> Pentagon. This particular puzzle rewards you with the Question Mask, which is an absolute necessity if you want to obtain all Nameless Ruins Masks, thereby opening the Enigma secret dungeon.

Puzzle #3

The last Ineluctable Prison puzzle in Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous is in the room that’s further northwest along the interior of the prison. The solution is: Hexagon -> Circle -> Pentagon -> Diamond.

Boulder Corridors, Midnight Bolt, and Angel’s Heart

What about all the other stuff in this location? Well, if you head along the south and east portion, you’ll come across a prison area with several cages. There’s a Perception check here that reveals a fake wall. Inside, you’ll find Ehkri’s Scroll, which is needed by Alderpah (more in this fella in a while).

Further ahead, you’ll stumble upon the Boulder Corridors, so try not to get flattened. One fork has a Magic Circle that causes steps to form. Follow it and you’ll reach a chamber with the Midnight Bolt and Angel’s Heart. Be forewarned that a bunch of demons will attack you here.

Alderpash

The other fork in the Boulder Corridors takes you to Alderpash’s Quarters. The runelord-turned-lich has been imprisoned in this dungeon and he wants to get out. There are a few ways to deal with Alderpash in Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous:

  • You can cleanse the glowing spot in the room.
  • Alderpash will ask you to help him escape. If you agree, you’ll get the Liberation of Wrath sidequest.
    • First, he’ll require Ehkri’s Scroll (mentioned earlier).
    • Second, he’ll ask for the Warden’s Key (found in Svendack’s Room, which we discuss in a short while).
    • He’ll attempt to teleport, to no avail. If you try to use your powers (i.e., Azata), you’ll find out that Baphomet’s powers are unrivaled. But, you’ll get an idea that the whole place can be destroyed (more on this later).
  • While talking to Alderpash, you can think to yourself as to where his phylactery might be hidden. This also gives you the Alderpash’s Phylactery errand.
    • The phylactery can be found in the pool of water in his room. If you take it, he’ll turn hostile and you’ll have no choice but to kill him.
    • It’s up to you if you want to loot him for some goodies or complete his other sidequest.

Cessily/Dawnflower’s Kiss and Ashen Lady

In the northern section of the dungeon, you’ll encounter more prisoners and cages. One of these has a trapped spirit named Cessily:

  • You can cleanse the glowing spot in Cessily’s cell.
  • If you pass the Diplomacy check and decide to help her out, you’ll get the Dawnflower’s Kiss sidequest. You’ll find the item in Svendack’s Room.
  • You may also show her the Staff of Extinguished Flame, assuming you looted it from Kestoglyr in Act 4’s Colphyr Mines. She replies by saying that he’s truly lost. Do note that we did not progress down the Lich path further, which allows your character to recruit Kestoglyr. We’re not sure if this will cause Cessily’s dialogue to change if she meets him as part of your undead party.

Likewise, in this area, the Ashen Lady will appear. This NPC will target one of your party members, popping up from time to time to attack that person.

Father of Worms

Assuming you’re in the room with the third puzzle, you’ll notice a door that leads to a cavernous area. One side seems to have nothing of note, but you’ll want to remember this spot since you’ll return here later. In any case, there are several Athletics checks here that’ll take you to a circular platform. There, you’ll battle the Father of Worms and its other minions. The Ashen Lady might also show up here, and you can put an end to her.

Svendack’s Room

Following the looping corridors all the way to the east takes you to Svendack’s Room. You can put an end to this foe. This lets you grab a bunch of loot, including the Warden’s Key from the corpse and Dawnflower’s Kiss from a rack in the corner. These items are needed by Alderpash and Cessily respectively.

Hand of the Inheritor Boss

The eastern section has one more Magic Circle that you can activate. But, before that, Baphomet’s statues will come to life. After destroying them, you’ll be able to move to the center of the platform where the Hand of the Inheritor awaits. This is followed by a two-phase fight where you’ll first deal with the boss and some minions, and then his burning angel form. When you’re done, you can decide on what to do with the Hand of the Inheritor in Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous:

  • Finish him off or consume him.
  • Attempt to give him the Angel’s Heart. This will lead to a dialogue branch for the Angel path or just forgiving him.

Before You Leave: Secret Ending Requirement From Hepzamirah

When you’re done with the battle, you’ll see the exit/s. However, there’s still one more thing left to do. Make your way back to the cavern prior to the fight with the Father of Worms. Remember the cliffside near the walls? There’s an Athletics check now that leads to a small nook. There, you’ll meet the spirit of Hepzamirah.

Choose the inquisitive dialogue options (i.e., don’t just attack or say that you don’t have time). Once you say that she shouldn’t have put her faith in her father, Baphomet, you’ll learn very important information about how Archpriestesses can summon Demon Lords at will. This is crucial, as it enables a special dialogue option at the end of the game, helping you unlock the Ascension secret ending.

In any case, that does it for the Ineluctable Prison puzzles in Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous. After you’ve gathered everything, return to where you fought the Hand of the Inheritor so you can exit the dungeon.

Alternatively, assuming you tried to help Alderpash and you used the Azata option, you can interact with the icon off to the side. This will cause the entire place to crumble, making it inaccessible for good but also freeing Alderpash for the Liberation of Wrath sidequest.
