Honkai Star Rail presents you with numerous opportunities to power up your characters. Some of them don’t become available until you have already had quite a few adventures. Those opportunities tend to be most vital to your continued progression. Here is our guide on how to unlock Echo of War in Honkai Star Rail.

Note: We’ll have a Honkai Star Rail guides and features hub soon, so stay tuned.

Honkai Star Rail – how to unlock Echo of War

As you approach the end of the In the Sweltering Morning Sun story mission, which isn’t accessible until you reach Trailblaze level 24, you’ll access a sub-mission called In the Dangerous Muddy Swamp. It occurs not long after the sub-mission in which you unlock the Cavern of Corrosion.

To unlock Echo of War in Honkai Star Rail, progress through In the Dangerous Muddy Swamp. This sub-mission has you tell residents of the Underground about your recent triumphs in the preceding sub-missions.

After you talk to a few characters (such as the miners, one of three options presented as the sub-mission begins), you receive a message on your portable device. Check that message and read through it. Doing so activates Echo of War.

Now the game walks you through the process of accessing an Echo of War event. You first access the Interastral Guide and then the Survival Index. Next, you choose Echo of War. Right off the bat, you can teleport to one of two maps of your choosing: End of the Eternal Freeze or Destruction’s Beginning. The rewards differ slightly. The big difference is that the first map provides Guardian’s Lament, while the second map provides Destroyer’s Final Road. Once you teleport to the map where the actual portal waits, you must visit the portal in order to access the event.

You can only make three Echo of War attempts in a given week. The rewards are substantial, and your character levels need to be high or you won’t be allowed to participate. You also must spend 30 Trailblaze Power on each attempt. It’s not a bad idea to wait until very nearly the end of the week, so you can spend your attempts accessing more advanced maps that offer better rewards.
