How to fix multiplayer not working error in Redfall

You probably already know that today’s launch of Redfall has fallen short of expectations, to say the least. Critics and players have panned the game for a variety of reasons, with many of them relating to its overall lack of technical polish. Unsurprisingly, this has impacted Redfall’s multiplayer functionality, as reports of players having trouble joining a game through the matchmaking system have surfaced. Although many likely won’t enjoy the game, playing with a friend certainly beats playing alone, so they might still want to fix the issue. So what can you do to get the multiplayer working again in Redfall?

Tips for fixing Redfall’s multiplayer

Many of the potential methods for fixing the multiplayer can apply to other games as well. One such method involves checking to see whether or not the servers have gone down. You can do this on the Bethesda.net Status Portal or the official Redfall Twitter account. If you find that the servers work just fine, though, you can take a look at your own Internet connection.

If you see that your Internet is running slow or doesn’t work outright, you can try disconnecting and then reconnecting your router to see if that makes a difference. Additionally, make sure that whoever plays with you has a stable Internet connection as well.

If the Internet works and you still cannot use the multiplayer, you can simply restart the game. Of course, that also has a chance of not working, so you might need to reinstall Redfall if you find yourself in this situation.

Hopefully, at least one of these methods will help bring your Redfall multiplayer experience to something resembling normalcy. Either way, the developers will absolutely need to implement patches to improve not just the multiplayer, but the entire rest of the game. Whether or not they can do this sufficiently and turn the game’s reception around remains an open question.
