The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom begins as players explore sky islands that introduce many of the game’s mechanics. You’ll likely stumble upon your first caves and hopefully meet their memorable residents. Here is our guide to the Pit Cave frog location in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

Tears of the Kingdom – Pit Cave frog location

Before you can find the frog within its cave, you must find the cave itself. Pit Cave is located near the southeastern edge of Great Sky Island. It connects a fairly sunny area with the chilly highlands. See the below image for the map location.

You can enter Pit Cave from either of two sides. I enter from the lower side, which is how a lot of players will probably approach. When you head inside, you’ll find a Construct that warns you about the freezing cold temperatures in higher elevations and asks if you’re prepared. There’s a rock wall to his right that you can break down with some stone weapons, and there is a Boulder nearby in case you wish to fuse such a tool. That’s not necessary, however.

Follow the main cave as it leads left and past the friendly Construct. You’ll start climbing to higher ground. The path forks here. Straight ahead, you’ll reach an exit. If you veer right through a small passage, you can drop to a lower area and you’ll see the frog climbing along the wall ahead of you.

When you battle a frog, your best approach (if possible) is to knock it from the wall with a shot from your bow. Then you can rush over to it while it lies on the cavern floor, stunned. Hit it with your melee weapon and it will give up a Bubbul Gem. You need this collectible item to get some neat items in the game (for instance, check our guide on how to get the Bokoblin Mask).

After you defeat the frog, make sure to break apart any black, glowing rocks in the area. They may also leave precious minerals that you can sell for rupees the next time you find a merchant.
