Where to find Dinraal in Tears of the Kingdom (TotK)

The elemental dragons in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom are one of the most unmissable parts of the world. You can see them from basically anywhere in the area that’s around them, they’re truly massive. Something you may not know however is that some of the elemental dragons only appear in certain areas of the map. One of these dragons that only appears in certain areas is Dinraal. Here’s our guide on where to find Dinraal in Tears of the Kingdom.

Where to find Dinraal in Tears of the Kingdom

You can find the elemental dragon Dinraal in the north-east of the map. Dinraal leaves the Depths via the East Akkala Plains Chasm, and enters the Depths via the Drenan Highlands Chasm. You can see a precise location, and its path on the map below.

Here’s a map of Dinraal’s path. Dinraal emerges from the Depths at the red pin, then makes its way to the blue, yellow, and then pink pins before heading to the green pin where it re-enters the Depths. Screenshot by PC Invasion

Having the Glide Armor set in Tears of the Kingdom makes getting to Dinraal a lot easier. There are two Skyview Towers in a comfortable distance away from its entry and exit chasms with the full Glide Armor set, but I personally think you can make it to it without having it as well if you manage your stamina properly by resting on nearby islands or using contraptions to get there. The Skyview Towers that are within range of Dinraal are the Ulri Mountain Skyview Tower, and the Thyphlo Ruins Skyview Tower.

Dinraal travels through the sky around the outside of the map, passing by Death Mountain before reaching the Drenan Highlands Chasm from the East Akkala Plains Chasm. So it can be a little hard to spot Dinraal. If you wait by either of the Chasms that Dinraal goes into or comes out of, you should find Dinraal eventually.

You can also find Dinraal underground, going along roughly the same path, but getting onto any of the elemental dragons underground is a lot harder than just waiting on the surface for them to appear, so we recommend waiting for Dinraal rather than trying to get to him underground.

Landing on Dinraal

If you’re looking to land on Dinraal in Tears of the Kingdom, fair warning, you’re going to need full Flame Guard to land on this dragon without taking damage. This means you’re going to need two pieces of armor that have the Flame Guard property. You can buy an armor set with this property in Goron City, we have a guide on getting that set in particular.

Hopefully with these tips, you should be able to find Dinraal soon enough.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is available for purchase from the Nintendo Store.
