Razer adds Supercell titles to in-game rewards programme

Razer Gold, the in-game rewards programme by Razer, has added a number of Supercell titles to its offerings including Clash of Clans, Clash Royale, and more.

Razer Gold will enable players to purchase in-game currency, battle passes, and more. With the addition of Supercell’s popular titles like Hay Day and Brawl Stars, Razer has added some of the most lucrative mobile games to its service. Razer is also offering bonus in-game currency as an incentive for players to use the service after the addition of these titles.

Razer stated that Razer Gold is the first third-party payment provider and online store to offer in-game currency for Supercell titles with Clash of Clans, Clash Royale, Brawl Stars, and Hay Day. Currency top-ups for these games are available in all the regions supported by Razer Gold, including Southeast Asia (SEA), North Asia, South Asia, Europe, Middle East, Africa (EMEA), North America, South America, Australia, and New Zealand (ANZ).

Avoiding Apple

Supercell is looking for new and innovative ways to distribute their games, and Razer Gold is one of the storefronts that they have added to their list. Users can currently buy in-game currency and other assets for Supercell’s catalogue via their website. Razer has been slowly growing its mobile offerings, and by providing an alternative storefront to Apple’s App Store, both companies stand to benefit.

Apple is renowned for its 30% cut on the iOS App Store, which resulted in a high-profile legal dispute with Epic over its popular game Fortnite. However, unlike Epic, which sought publicity, Supercell is looking for a more discreet way to bypass Apple’s significant cut.

It will be interesting to see the impact of Razer Gold’s addition of Supercell’s games to its offering and the reception from the gaming community, which continues to look at ways to avoid the Apple tax on some of the most popular mobile games available.
