What does unlocks new look on salvage mean in Diablo 4?

If you see the text “Unlocks new look on salvage” in the description of a piece of gear in Diablo 4, this means that by salvaging that item, you can unlock its looks as a transmog in the Wardrobe. The Wardrobe is where you can customize the appearance of your equipment without changing its stats.

This system allows you to use the appearance of equipment you no longer need and apply it to your current gear. To use a salvaged item’s appearance for transmogrification, go to the Wardrobe and select a piece of equipment. Then choose “SELECT A VARIANT” on the right and choose the salvaged item’s look that you want to apply.

It’s important to keep in mind that salvaging equipment is permanent and you won’t be able to keep using the gear after salvaging it. Therefore, only salvage gear that you no longer need. Also, make sure that you salvage gear of the same type as the equipment you want to apply the salvaged look to. For example, you can only apply a Chest Armor salvaged appearance to another Chest Armor and not to a different type of gear.

The game doesn’t limit how many salvaged item looks you can use for transmogrification, so don’t hesitate to collect as many looks as possible to customize your gear.

Happy Diablo 4 hunting!
