Square Enix has given an update on the progress of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, the second chapter of the FF7 Remake trilogy. Producer Yoshinori Kitase officially confirmed that the development is going smoothly and a release date is being considered.
Rebirth is set for release in winter 2023, with Final Fantasy 16, the newest installment in the series, releasing later this month. Kitase stated, “Development is progressing smoothly and according to plan. We are currently working on nailing down a release date for the game.”
The release date and more information of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth are yet to be determined by Square Enix. The third and final entry in the trilogy remains unnamed but is suspected to begin with an R.
Kitase elaborated on the importance of making changes to the plot to make the remake appeal to both fans of the original game and new players. “I decided that Final Fantasy 7 Remake would not just appeal to nostalgia but would include a new story as well to feel both nostalgic and fresh at the same time,” he said.
