Early on in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, players will encounter Flux Construct I, a shapeshifting cluster of cubes that serves as one of the game’s overworld minibosses. But as you explore the game’s world, you’ll encounter its more powerful variants, Flux Construct II and Flux Construct III, which require specific strategies to defeat. Here are some tips on how to deal with these minibosses.
Tips for fighting Flux Construct II
Flux Construct II has three shapeshifting forms, much like its weaker counterpart. However, these forms behave differently than Flux Construct I. Here are some tips for each form:
Humanoid Form: Flux Construct II’s humanoid form behaves erratically, often warping closer to players before slamming its fists into the ground. To counter this, players should keep their distance and sprint away from the boss once it charges at them. Using Ultrahand, a tool that shakes loose the glowing green cube, is essential in defeating Flux Construct II. The boss’s faster movement and tendency to hide the green cube behind other blocks means players will need to use Ultrahand more often to remove the surrounding blocks and target the green cube more easily.
Cube Form: The cube form tilts around more quickly, making it harder to aim and remove surrounding blocks with Ultrahand. Additionally, the boss can now fly up and slam down on players, creating a damaging shockwave. Although this move should provide players with an opening to attack, it usually lands with the green cube facing away from them. Using arrows to stun the boss or standing on one of its launching blocks and recalling it to get to the top of the boss are effective strategies in defeating this form.
Flying Rectangular Form: This form launches around five blocks at players that cannot be easily reached with arrows. However, using the Recall function on one of its launching blocks will escort players to the top of the boss, where they can attack the green cube with melee attacks.
Tips for fighting Flux Construct III
Flux Construct III behaves almost identically to Flux Construct II, except for its higher health and damage. However, during the humanoid and cube phases, the green cube will swap places with one of the other blocks intermittently, making it more difficult to target. Removing surrounding blocks with Ultrahand and using arrows to stun the boss will remain effective strategies in defeating this miniboss.
Rewards for Beating Flux Constructs
After defeating either Flux Construct II or III, players will receive their own, more powerful versions of the Flux Construct Core that can be fused to upgrade weapons. Alongside the usual Zonai charges, players can occasionally receive Zonai capsules to use in making contraptions. Defeating Flux Constructs is also required for certain shrine quests and to obtain Sage’s Wills for upgrading sage’s attack power, making it essential in making your Tears of the Kingdom playthrough easier.
