A new World Boss is making its presence known in Diablo 4, and it goes by the name Wandering Death. This giant tree made of bones may look intimidating, but with the right strategies and preparation, you can defeat it. In this guide, we’ll cover everything you need to know about Wandering Death’s abilities and spawn times.
How to Defeat Wandering Death in Diablo 4
Wandering Death Spawn Times
Unlike other World Bosses in Diablo 4, Wandering Death doesn’t have a specific spawn time or location. Every six hours, a World Boss will appear and will usually be located in one of several large, circular arenas, including Fractured Peaks – The Crucible, Scosglen – Caen Adar, Dry Steppes – Saraan Caldera, Kehjistan – Seared Basin, and Hawezar – Fields of Desecration. However, the World Boss you’ll face is random and not guaranteed to be Wandering Death at any specific time.
Thirty minutes before the boss appears in the arena, an icon will show up, letting all players know that a World Boss is about to spawn. Players have only 15 minutes to defeat the creature before it disappears.
Wandering Death Abilities
Before facing Wandering Death, it’s important to know its abilities to prepare accordingly. The following are some abilities you need to watch out for when fighting this World Boss:
- Spectral Circle – Multiple circular outlines will appear on the ground, slowing you down and dealing damage-over-time. Move out of the way.
- Bone Jail – Similarly to the Necromancer’s Bone Prison, Wandering Death will create up to three enclosures in the area. If you’re trapped inside, quickly destroy the walls to escape before a massive blast engulfs the spot after a few seconds.
- Iron Spikes – Black lines will appear on the ground, signifying that multiple serrated spikes will cascade back and forth the boss’ location.
- Negation Beam – Wandering Death’s ultimate spell creates up to three beams. When the boss’s outlines appear from its arms, be ready to move, circling around it while dodging the beams.
Wandering Death’s attacks are easily telegraphed, so melee-based classes such as Barbarians and Druids must be more alert before the creature casts its abilities. In contrast, Ranged classes such as the Rogue, Necromancer, and Sorcerer may have an easier time staying further away from the target.
Now that you have basic knowledge of the Wandering Death ability, it’s time to face it. If defeated, you’ll earn valuable rewards, such as Sacred and Ancestral items. Additionally, Wandering Death is a Whisper of the Dead bounty, and you’ll receive +5 Grim Favors after a kill. You’ll have a chance to encounter other behemoths, such as Ashava the Pestilent and Avarice the Gold Cursed. You have the opportunity to face all of these wretched beasts.
