What Do You Wish You Knew Sooner In Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom?

Let’s dive back into the world of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom for a moment, shall we? If you’re one of the many who have poured countless hours into exploring the vast open-world title, you’ll know that there are still plenty of secrets to uncover.

Missed Opportunities

Above all else, a common theme among players is that there are features we wished we knew about earlier. Did you know that the Purah Pad could have been fully kitted out once you’d completed the first Regional Phenomena quest? This is especially disappointing for those of us who spent over 50 hours on the game, discovering the Travel Medallions and Autobuild features far too late.

These handy tools aren’t the only things we missed; those of us who laboriously flattened items using Ultrahand were unaware that we could simply press ‘ZL’ on one selected item to turn it into a perfect base.

Shrines and Secrets

Completing every Shrine to set up Fast Travel points for later proved to be unnecessary, as it turns out that you can fast travel to a Shrine without needing to have completed the challenge first. As for Lightroots in the Depths, we spent hours ignorantly wandering around when there is clear evidence in the game that there is a direct relationship between these and the surface Shrines.

Ultrahandy Tools

It’s worth noting that there were many other Ultrahandy features we were also unaware of, like the ability to un-Fuse your weapons and shields from the loadout menu. Plus, the handy application of freezing water with ice items, and using Ultrahand to remove flowers and mushrooms for easy wall traversal. Lastly, foraging under cherry blossom trees could have been much easier had we been clued in to using the bowl underneath.

In a game as vast and expansive as this one, it’s no surprise that we didn’t find everything on our first playthrough. However, it still feels like we haven’t even scratched the surface of what Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has to offer.
