New Narrative Horror Game “Still Wakes the Deep” Announced by The Chinese Room
The Chinese Room has recently announced their newest game, “Still Wakes the Deep,” which is set to be released next year on multiple platforms. The game is a narrative horror game that takes place on an oil rig off Scotland’s coast in the mid-1970s.
After the Beira D oil rig is hit by disaster, players must navigate through the destroyed rig to save their crew from an unspeakable horror. With the rig battered by a storm and the aggressive sea, players must run, swim, climb and scurry their way throughout the rig, hoping to escape not only the destruction but also a malevolent entity that has found its way inside.
The Chinese Room is known for its atmospheric and mysterious games, including “Dear Esther” and “Everyone’s Gone to the Rapture.” “Still Wakes the Deep” looks to continue this trend, but with a quicker pace and more action, similar to “Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs.”
The game will be released in 2024 and will be available on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PS5, and PC. While a potential release on PS4 hasn’t been confirmed, it could potentially be a contender for the list of best horror games.
