Tears of the Kingdom Guide: Exploring Tingel Island
In the epic adventure of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, players will traverse diverse landscapes, ranging from deserts to majestic mountains, and from canyons and prairies to secluded islands. Among these enchanting locations, Tingel Island stands out, beckoning adventurers with the promise of marvelous secrets. This guide will walk you through the wonders of Tingel Island in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
Discovering Tingel Island
Tingel Island is the most northern isle in a chain of islands off the eastern coast of Hyrule. Perched high above the Lanayru Sea, it is connected to Ankel Island by a narrow bridge.
To safely reach Tingel Island, it is recommended to travel to Davdi Island first. Once you arrive, head north across the bridges while avoiding encounters with the few enemies present. You’ll notice the Gatanisis Shrine nestled on the rocky cliffs along the western shoreline. If you have unlocked fast travel, make use of it to quickly reach the higher islands by catching wind currents. However you choose to proceed, a smooth journey awaits you in reaching Tingel Island. Consult the map screenshot below to pinpoint its location.
On Tingel Island (which some spell as ‘Tingle Island’ due to the legendary Tingle armor set inspired by a character named Tingle), venture towards its northern point to discover a cave entrance emitting a reddish glow. Approaching it will trigger the Tingel Island Chasm, granting you access to an otherwise unreachable area known as The Depths. Although lacking a local Lightroot, visibility is not compromised if you have activated the Sisinatag Lightroot.
The Depths beckon you to unravel their secrets. Initially, upon descending, you will come across an enemy camp that offers little of interest. I recommend steering clear of it and instead following the guidance of the Poes beyond the camp. They will lead you towards a weak rock wall. Employ a stone tool to smash through the weakened barrier, or enlist the aid of Yunobo and his powerful Vow of Yunobo ability. Given the abundance of rocky obstacles in this area, it is highly advisable to utilize the sage’s strength.
Continue your journey south, hopping across a chain of islands interconnected by narrow tunnels obstructed by rocky barriers. Along the way, you may stumble upon Rusty Claymore weapons, as well as plenty of rocks suitable for forging them into formidable tools. However, it is worth noting that the ratio of available rock to tools can sometimes be unfavorable. Furthermore, the process itself is rather tiresome. It is strongly advised to tackle Tingel Island only after conquering the Fire Temple (refer to our guide for assistance in unlocking the temple’s five locks).
On your final stretch through the tunnel, blocked by an enduring blue rock, you will notice a treasure chest placed at the center of a platform. Employ your paraglider to gracefully descend onto the platform and swiftly unlock the chest to claim the coveted Cap of Wind. Be prepared, as your arrival will attract a menacing Gloom Hands adversary. Engage in combat against both the Gloom Hands and Phantom Ganon, or opt for a safe retreat by fast traveling to another location if you wish to conserve resources and avoid battle.
