Valheim adds a hard mode

Fans of the Viking survival game Valheim will be pleased to know that developer Iron Gate Studio has introduced difficulty options to the game. This means that players now have the choice to make their experience either easier or more difficult based on their preference.

According to Iron Gate Studio, these difficulty options have been added in the hopes of attracting more players who may have been deterred by Valheim’s challenging nature. The hard mode increases enemy HP and damage output, while the easy mode is designed for players seeking a lighter and more accommodating adventure, perfect for pacifists and builders.

Valheim arrived on Xbox consoles earlier this year.

The introduction of these difficulty options comes with the Hildir’s Request update, which brings the merchant Hildir and her collection of wares to the game. Players can now customize their characters with a variety of cosmetic upgrades, including dresses, tunics, and hats, to showcase the finest in Viking fashion. Additionally, Hildir also offers fireworks for those who want to add a bit of explosive excitement to their gameplay.

In order to unlock these new cosmetic upgrades, players will need to assist Hildir in recovering her store inventory and gather specific parts from different biomes in Valheim.

Valheim is available on both PC and Xbox, including through Game Pass. So, players can join the Viking adventure on their platform of choice.

In a separate development, Valheim’s developer recently showed support for the game’s modding scene by urging fans not to charge for PC mods, as it goes against the open spirit of the game.
