City Update II: France

Let’s explore some of the highlights from each city:

Amiens

Located in the northern region of France, Amiens is known for its breathtaking Amiens Cathedral, which is the largest gothic cathedral in the country.

Angers

Situated in the western region, Angers is famous for its towering Angers Cathedral and its striking black- and white-walled castle.

Nantes

Nestled near the Atlantic coast, just west of Angers, Nantes offers a plethora of architectural wonders along the Loire River, as well as the opportunity to admire the Castle of the Dukes of Brittany from the sky.

Nîmes

Located in southern France, Nîmes boasts an incredible collection of Roman-era architecture. Don’t miss the chance to witness the grandeur of the Arena of Nîmes, an amphitheater that still hosts live shows to this day.

Reims

Positioned 80 miles northeast of Paris, Reims is home to some of the finest examples of French Gothic architecture. The magnificent Reims Cathedral is a must-see.

Furthermore, City Update II: France includes Paris–Le Bourget Airport (LFPB), renowned as the landing site of Charles Lindbergh’s historic solo transatlantic crossing in 1927 aboard the Spirit of St. Louis. The airport is also the current host of the Paris Air Show 2023.

City Update II: France is available for free to all Microsoft Flight Simulator owners. Make sure your simulator is updated to version 1.32.7.0, download the City Update II, and immerse yourself in the wonders of France.

Local Legend 09: Latécoère 631

In honor of the remarkable history of French aviation, the Microsoft Flight Simulator team is also introducing Local Legend 09: the Latécoère Model 631. This extraordinary all-metal, high-wing, six-engine flying boat was designed and manufactured by France’s own Latécoère Corporation.

The Latécoère Model 631 holds a special place in French national pride. Its elegant and sizable design first graced the skies on November 4, 1942. For several years, it held the title of the largest flying boat in the world, surpassed only by the American Hughes H-4 Hercules “Spruce Goose” (which only flew once) and the British Saunders-Roe Princess.

This majestic flying boat, the last of the great trans-oceanic airliners of its kind, remained in service until the mid-1950s. The Latécoère Model 631 is available for purchase at $14.99 and comes with 16 stunning liveries.

Don’t miss out on exploring the wonders of France with City Update II: France and the magnificent Latécoère Model 631 in Microsoft Flight Simulator. The sky is calling!
