Riot Games Launches Soul Fighters Summer Event Across Runeterra Titles

Riot Games is set to kick off a special summer event called Soul Fighters in all of its Runeterra titles. Taking place in League of Legends, Teamfight Tactics, League of Legends: Wild Rift, and Legends of Runeterra, this six-week event starting July 20 draws inspiration from iconic fighting games like Mortal Kombat 1 and Street Fighter 6. Players can expect an array of fresh content, including new game modes, skins, and gameplay features.

Tournament of Souls: A Battle for Supremacy

Soul Fighters unfolds in an alternate universe where the “Tournament of Souls” takes center stage. Beloved characters from the Runeterra universe will engage in fierce battles, all under the organization of the enigmatic God’s Eye. As stated in the press release, the competitors will fight relentlessly until only one remains standing.

Andrei van Roon, head of League Studio, shed light on what players can anticipate. “Arena, Soul Brawl, and Tag Duel will provide players with fresh experiences in League of Legends, Teamfight Tactics, and Wild Rift respectively. We believe these game modes bring something truly innovative to the table. We can’t wait to hear players’ feedback once they try them out.”

Exciting New Game Modes

Alongside a plethora of cosmetics and skins, Soul Fighters introduces thrilling new game modes. League of Legends welcomes the addition of the Arena mode, featuring intense battles between four teams of two players across diverse battlegrounds. Furthermore, the game introduces a new metagame, allowing players to embody Samira, a competitor in the Tournament of Souls. Players can earn reputation by participating in games and unlock new opponents and abilities for Samira in a style-focused combo battler.

Teamfight Tactics receives its own unique narrative experience set in the Tournament of Souls universe, while Wild Rift introduces the Tag Duel mode, enabling players to swiftly switch between champions during gameplay. Although Legends of Runeterra does not present new modes, it offers a variety of cosmetics and a brand-new event pass for players to enjoy.
