Bethesda has clarified that Starfield, its upcoming space RPG, will indeed have a physical disc included with the purchase of the Xbox Standard Edition. A blog post on June 11 confirmed this, stating, “Starfield Standard Edition is included with Xbox Game Pass. Game disc included with physical purchases of Xbox Standard Edition.” However, PC players will not receive a disc but instead will receive a game code.
The confusion regarding whether Starfield would have a physical disc arose from a now-deleted tweet from Bethesda Support. In the tweet, a fan asked if the game would have a disc, and Bethesda initially responded by stating that there would be no physical discs included. This tweet caused confusion among fans until Bethesda clarified the situation.
Starfield was originally announced in 2018 at E3 and is the first new IP to come from Bethesda in the past 25 years. During the Xbox Games Showcase 2023, more details about the game were revealed, such as the presence of over 1,000 planets to explore, a comprehensive skill tree, and intense space fights. Preorders for Starfield are currently available on Amazon, and PC gamers can find discounts by preordering from specific sites.
