PS5 Slim to Release This Year at $399, According to Microsoft Documents
Documents presented to the United States Court as part of the ongoing debate over the acquisition of Activision Blizzard by Microsoft have revealed new details about the upcoming PS5 Slim. According to leaked information, Microsoft has disclosed that the PS5 Slim is set to launch this year at a price point of $399.
The document from Microsoft highlights the differences between Xbox and PlayStation consoles and specifically mentions the new PS5 Slim. The document states:
“In fact, the entry-level versions of the current Xbox and Switch are offered at the same price point ($299.99), and the Xbox Series S is sold for $50 less than the Switch OLED model ($349.99). PlayStation likewise sells a less expensive Digital Edition for $399.99, and is expected to release a PlayStation 5 Slim later this year at the same reduced price point.”
Interestingly, the published document also contains references to the launch of a PlayStation Slim, with some sections of text completely obscured, potentially containing confidential information.
While we await confirmation of the details presented in these documents, it is worth noting that PlayStation Project Q, a handheld console designed for remote play from the PS5, is also expected to be released this year.
