Baldur’s Gate 3 Introduces Character Respec and Multiclassing Options
In a recent livestream, Nick Pechenin from Larian Studios confirmed that players of Baldur’s Gate 3 will have the ability to re-spec their characters and explore “multiclass” combinations. This feature aims to prevent players from having to restart the entire game and provides opportunities for experimentation.
Pechenin stated, “We wanted to avoid players having to restart the whole game, because it’s a very heavy narrative experience. There’s a character you might meet that will allow you to reset your class, and reinvest all of the levels.”
Regarding “multiclasses,” Pechenin mentioned, “In multiclassing, there are a lot of really cool combinations, there are some combinations that don’t quite work, and we want the players to really experiment with what is possible. And respec really helps with that.”
Baldur’s Gate 3 is set to release on PC on August 3rd and PlayStation 5 on September 6th. The Xbox version will be delayed slightly due to challenges with split-screen co-op on Xbox Series S.
Additionally, Maggie Robertson, known for her role as Lady Dimitrescu in Resident Evil Village, will be playing another memorable villain in Baldur’s Gate 3.
Stay tuned for deeper impressions of the game, including the PS5 version, as well as an interview with Larian boss Swen Vincke. In the meantime, make sure to watch the full Larian Panel from Hell for the latest public look at the game.
