Diablo 4 Claims Top Spot as Best-Selling PS5 Game, Beating Final Fantasy 16

Diablo 4 has emerged as the top-selling game for the PS5 on the PlayStation Store in June 2023, surpassing Final Fantasy 16 to secure the first place. However, there were other notable new releases that made their way into the download charts for both PS5 and PS4 last month.

Diablo 4 was Nearly the Best-Selling Game on Both PS5 and PS4

According to Sony’s official chart, Diablo 4 secured the highest sales for the PS5 game category on the PlayStation Network in the United States, Canada, and Europe during June 2023. It also claimed the top spot for PS4 sales in the U.S. and Canada. However, in Europe, it fell behind Minecraft and FIFA 23 to claim the third position. This outcome is not surprising considering the fact that Diablo 4 generated a staggering $600 million within its first five days of release.

Final Fantasy 16 performed admirably and achieved a solid second place on the PS5 charts in both regions. It should be noted that the game was only released for the PS5 and did not launch on the PS4. Despite having only nine days to make its mark, Final Fantasy 16 became the fastest-selling PS5 exclusive. On the other hand, Diablo 4 had over three weeks to rack up its sales after its release on June 5.

Several other new games also found their way into the top PS5 downloads chart. Street Fighter 6 secured the third position in the U.S./Canada region and sixth position in Europe, while AEW: Fight Forever earned the twelfth spot in the U.S./Canada region. However, neither were able to enter the chart in Europe.

Meanwhile, Beat Saber continues to dominate the new PSVR2 chart, although it was replaced by Creed: Rise to Glory – Championship Edition on the original PSVR headset. Unsurprisingly, Fortnite remains the most popular free-to-play game on both PS5 and PS4.
