Armored Core 6 story and setting

The Armored Core series unfolds in a post-apocalyptic future where corporations hire mercenaries to pilot enormous mechs, engaging in fierce battles for rewards and resources. Armored Core 6 continues this tradition within a mech-dominated wasteland. According to Bandai Namco’s website, the game will revolve around a mysterious substance discovered on the planet Rubicon 3. Initially hailed as a revolutionary energy source, this substance became unstable, engulfing the planet and surrounding stars in flames. Now, almost fifty years later, the same substance reemerges on the contaminated planet, capturing the interest of numerous powerful corporations. As a hired mercenary, your mission is to capture this power source and eliminate anyone who stands in your way.

Armored Core 6 is described as a “3D combat mecha action game” that allows players to freely navigate the three-dimensional stages with precise and deliberate movements, as stated on FromSoftware’s official website. Mech customization has always been a significant aspect of the Armored Core series, and the latest installment stays true to this tradition. By purchasing components with money earned from missions, players can create entirely unique mechs. Additionally, virtually every aspect of the mech can be customized before respawning, providing a high level of personalization. With four weapon slots available, players have ample opportunities to tailor their mechs to their liking. Moreover, the game features a multiplayer mode where you can battle other players using your fully customized mech, as revealed by Armored Core 6 director, Masaru Yamamura, in an interview with IGN.

Recent previews of Armored Core 6 generated not only positive feedback but also shed light on the game’s combat mechanics. NME reported that mechs have an impact bar, indicating moments when they are vulnerable to heavy damage. However, this bar depletes rapidly, requiring players to adapt their strategies and playstyles after damaging an enemy, much like in Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.
