Halls of Torment: Unlocking the Demonic Exchange Trait

When it comes to completing quests in Halls of Torment, you often need to think outside the box. This is particularly true for unlocking unique equipment and traits in the game. In this guide, we’ll show you how to unlock the Demonic Exchange trait in Halls of Torment.

The Demonic Exchange Trait

The Demonic Exchange trait is a powerful tool to enhance the abilities of your summons. However, before accessing it, you must first unlock the warlock character by defeating the Wyrm Queen in Ember Grounds. Once that is done, you can proceed to clear the quest also named Demonic Exchange.

Clearing the Demonic Exchange Quest

The Demonic Exchange quest is one of the 15 listed under the Demonic Pact category in your available Quests. To complete it, you must survive for at least five minutes with a maximum health of 250 or less.

It’s important to note that simply reducing your character’s health to 250 or less is not enough. Your character’s maximum health must also be 250 or less. This means that the life meter itself must indicate a maximum total of 250 or less.

To achieve this in the Haunted Caverns stage, follow these steps:

1. Before starting a run, refund any Health Capacity blessings you may have purchased, ensuring that your warlock starts with only 350 HP.
2. Reduce your HP total by 100 HP.
3. Kill enemies and select the Dedication I (Bloodletting) trait when it appears. This trait decreases your HP by 10%. Enhance its effect by using a Reverbant Tinkture twice during a single run to bring your total to around 209 HP.

In my experience, it usually takes about 10 minutes in the level for the trait to appear multiple times. After that, you must survive for an additional five minutes. Keep in mind that you can still select traits that restore HP and improve defense if needed.
