As you venture through the world of Stardew Valley in search of all 67 fish, you’ll quickly discover that catching a Red Snapper is a relatively easy feat. With a few basic requirements and the right fishing spot, you’ll have no trouble finding this elusive creature.
Why Catch a Red Snapper?
Aside from personal fulfillment, there are a few reasons why players might seek out the Red Snapper. This particular fish is often required for various missions during the Summer, Fall, and Winter seasons.
Where to Catch Red Snapper in Stardew Valley
Before we dive into the specifics, it’s important to note that Red Snappers can only be caught while it is raining. If you’re determined to catch one outside of rainy days, you’ll need to use Magic Bait, which allows you to catch fish regardless of the season, weather, or time of day.
There are two main locations in Stardew Valley where you can catch Red Snappers:
- On the Beach, during the Summer and Fall seasons
- If you chose the Beach Farm at the start of the game, you can also catch Red Snappers in the ocean on your own farm
To increase your chances of a catch, it’s best to fish between 6 AM and 7 PM, as this is the designated time period for Red Snappers. Thankfully, you don’t need to cast your line into the depths of the ocean for this particular fish. Medium distances from the shore should suffice.
Other Ways to Get a Red Snapper
While there aren’t many alternatives to catching a Red Snapper, there is one other method you can try:
- Buy it from the Traveling Cart
The Traveling Cart in Cindersap Forest occasionally sells Red Snappers, although the price can be quite steep and the stock is random. Prices for a Red Snapper from the Traveling Cart range anywhere from 150 to 1,000g.
However, we don’t recommend purchasing a Red Snapper from the Traveling Merchant, as it can be a waste of time and resources. Unless you have a specific need for the fish, it’s best to try your luck at catching it yourself.
