Post Malone spends $2m on this one-of-a-kind Magic: The Gathering card

Lucky Toronto Retail Worker Sells Rare Magic: The Gathering Card to Post Malone for $2 Million

A Toronto retail worker had the opportunity of a lifetime when he sold a prized Magic: The Gathering card to none other than musician Post Malone. Brook Trafton, who had discovered the rare card earlier this year, was elated when what he thought was a meet and greet with Post Malone turned into an unexpected sale.

Trafton described his emotions, saying, “I was overwhelmed with joy and emotion” when he first uncovered the card. Recognizing its significance, he took every precaution, even keeping it a secret from his father until it was stored safely at a bank.

After seeking legal and public relations assistance, Trafton received a message from representatives of Post Malone expressing the musician’s desire to meet him and see the card for himself. Trafton recounted the moment, saying, “As soon as he saw [the card] he said: yes. I said: ‘Pardon?! Like, what do you mean?'” The sale was confirmed, and Trafton admitted that he was moved to tears by the magical experience.

A Truly Unique Card

So, what makes this particular card so special? The “One Ring” card hails from Magic: The Gathering’s Lord of the Rings set and is a one-of-a-kind find in perfect mint condition. Its rarity and unique status make it highly sought after by collectors and fans of the game.

Richard Garfield’s New Game Studio

In other news related to Magic: The Gathering, the game’s creator Richard Garfield has recently established a new game studio called Popularium. Teaming up with developers from acclaimed titles such as Hearthstone, World of Warcraft, and Halo, Popularium is already hard at work on its inaugural title, Chaos Agents.

Garfield emphasizes a community-centric approach to game development, drawing inspiration from beloved ARPG Hades. He believes that incorporating constructible and strategic elements into gameplay can overcome some of the limitations and broaden the appeal to a wider audience.
