How to Successfully Complete the Faith-Leap Trial in Baldur’s Gate 3

One of the most challenging puzzles in Baldur’s Gate 3 awaits players within the Gauntlet of Shar. Progressing through the main questline, you will encounter Shar’s trials, which must be completed in order to locate a Relic for General Ketheric Thorm. The Faith-Leap Trial is particularly perplexing, often causing players to become stuck. However, with the following guide, you can navigate this trial successfully and move forward in Baldur’s Gate 3.

Walkthrough: The Faith-Leap Trial in Baldur’s Gate 3

The Faith-Leap Trial is the third challenge you will face, following the completion of the Soft-Step Trial and the Self-Same Trial. As you step into the trial area, you will encounter an empty chasm with shadowy, nearly-invisible paths to guide your way. To successfully pass the Faith-Leap Trial in Baldur’s Gate 3, you must follow the clue located on the floor at the beginning of the trial.

Before attempting any trial, it is essential to have a character perform a blood sacrifice at the Sacrificial Bowl. Since Shadowheart is a devout follower of Shar, I highly recommend utilizing her for all the trials and sacrifices. While some trials can be completed as a group, such as the Self-Same trial, the Faith-Leap Trial is best tackled individually.

If you have attempted to cross the chasm multiple times without success, struggling to discern safe stepping points, you are not alone. Failing three times in this trial results in death. To mitigate frustration and progress smoothly, I strongly advise saving your game frequently by pressing ‘F5’ during the Faith-Leap Trial.

After much confusion, I made a significant observation at the start of the trial. Take note of the gold lines on the floor; these indicate the safe path. Additionally, there are three large squares within the trial area that serve as platforms covered in darkness and statues, which are also safe to touch.

Exercise patience during this trial. Ensure that Shadowheart, or whichever character is undertaking the trial, embarks on it alone. Continuously refer back to the floor design to confirm you are heading in the correct direction. Saving your progress frequently is crucial. Eventually, you will reach the end and obtain the Umbral Orb as your reward. A button will then appear, allowing you to teleport back to the start. You see, it wasn’t so challenging after all, right?
