The latest update for the game Dark and Darker has made a significant change that prevents players from running around in the nude. This change effectively nerfs the speed boost that players previously gained from being naked.
Dark and Darker was released on August 7 as an early access title on the indie storefront Chaf Games, rather than on Steam. Since its release, the game has been receiving regular hotfixes to address various issues.
Ironmace Games, the developer of Dark and Darker, shared the details of the latest hotfix on Twitter. Although the majority of the fixes primarily focus on updates to spells for the Wizard, Warlock, and Bard classes, the most notable change is the buff to the Armor Rating. This change causes players to take more damage when they are hit while being naked.
Players who have been playing Dark and Darker might be familiar with an exploit that allowed them to gain a speed boost by removing their armor and clothing. Additionally, the starter armor for some classes provided limited protection, leading players to prefer the additional speed boost of being completely naked.
Unfortunately, this recent patch has forced players to put on some clothes as it has altered the “Armor Rating curve table” to make players take more damage when they are naked.

- Improved Ironshield’s functionality and fixed several glitches
- Fixed an issue where redstone couldn’t be used with the Chaf Games launcher
- Changed the Armor Rating curve table to make players take more damage when naked
- Changed the Interaction Speed curve table to allow Clerics to open chests and doors slightly faster
- Reduced casting time for all Wizard spells by 0.25 seconds
- Reduced the casting time for Warlock’s Curse of Pain and Power of Sacrifice by 0.25 seconds
- Removed the accessible Hoard without clearing the boss in Inferno
- Slightly reduced Bard’s Shriek of Weakness defense rating reduction rate
- Slightly reduced Bard’s Chorale of Clarity spell recovery per tick
Prior to the early access release, Ironmace Games faced accusations from Nexon, another game studio, claiming that Dark and Darker had stolen code. Despite this, the developer managed to overcome legal disputes and delays to finally release the game.
