Ironmace Takes Action Against Cheaters in Dark and Darker
Ironmace, the developer behind Dark and Darker, is taking a stand against cheaters in the game’s early access release. In a statement posted on the game’s Discord community, Graysun from Ironmace acknowledged the presence of cheaters and declared addressing hacking as a top priority.
Graysun wrote, “Right now, we are fighting a difficult fight against cheaters as we gather information with Ironshield to deal with this situation.” Ironmace is committed to combating cheating and has even set up a Discord account, “Ironshield Support,” where players can directly message their evidence of cheating for the next 30 days.
Players are encouraged to provide video evidence of cheating along with the hacker’s in-game name included. Screenshots alone are not considered sufficient proof. This initiative aims to support the community and ensure fair gameplay.
While it is unclear what consequences cheaters will face or what will happen after the 30-day period, the effort to tackle cheating is a positive development for players who have experienced the frustration of encountering cheaters in the game (thanks, PCGN).
Ironmace’s Battle with Copyright Issues
Ironmace is currently embroiled in another battle, this time involving copyright infringement. Previously, a former Nexon employee, known as Leader A, allegedly leaked company data and assets while working remotely during the Covid-19 pandemic. Leader A was responsible for the development of a project known as “P3.” However, after being caught leaking “thousands” of project files, Leader A was terminated by Nexon.
As a result, Ironmace received a cease and desist letter and a DMCA takedown notice from Nexon, which the developer claims is based on distorted claims. Consequently, Dark and Darker was removed from Steam. Ironmace used ChatGPT to demonstrate that it did not infringe upon any copyright claims.
Fortunately, Dark and Darker is now available again in early access. Ironmace has created its own launcher, called Blacksmith, and is selling the game directly from its website and through the Chaf Games digital storefront.
