Shield Surfing Update for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

In the latest update for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Nintendo introduces shield surfing as a new feature. Players can now redeem a Soldier’s Shield and Cart to enjoy shield surfing in the expansive world of Hyrule. Here’s how you can redeem these items:

How to Redeem Items from the Switch News Channel:

• On your Switch Home Menu, select the ‘News’ icon
• Scroll to the Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom news story “Shield Surfing: the Speedier Way to Get Around”
• Click ‘Play Now’ within the news article
• Boot up Zelda and load your game file
• “Receive a Soldier’s Shield and a Cart”

Nintendo provides a detailed description of shield surfing:

“Greetings, all! When you think of using a shield, what’s the first thing that comes to mind? You’re probably thinking ‘blocking attacks’, but your trusty shield doesn’t have to be a one-trick pony! With a shield out, press the X Button to jump and then the A Button to mid-jump to shield surf down a slope.”

But the fun doesn’t stop there. If you fuse a shield with a cart, you can experience the thrill of shield surfing while also enjoying a speed boost from being on wheels. There are even rumors that fusing a frozen ingredient will provide a smoother ride…
