Armored Core 6’s first boss difficulty is proving to be a mixed bag with players

Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon

Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon has finally been released today, and players are already facing difficulty with the very first boss in the game. The initial boss encounter, the AH12 HC Helicopter, at the end of chapter one has been causing frustration for many players. Being a FromSoftware game, this challenge comes as no surprise for veterans of the Armored Core series and fans of FromSoftware and soulsborne titles.

Players have taken to Twitter to express their struggles with the boss encounter. While some find it frustrating or ridiculous, others are enjoying the difficulty. One player shared their victory after seven attempts, stating, “After seven tries I have defeated the first boss of the game, let’s go, this rules.” Another player mentioned spending an hour getting their ass kicked by the boss and loving every second of it.

TechRadar Gaming’s Review

In a review by TechRadar Gaming’s staff writer, Cat Bussell, Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon received a three out of five rating. Bussell praised the game’s responsive and satisfying combat, as well as its exciting and varied missions. However, she highlighted that the game’s soulsborne mechanics weaken its overall experience. Bussell wrote, “While there’s certainly a lot to enjoy in Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon, the title presents a skewed experience that neither scratches the soulsborne itch nor remains entirely true to the mech piloting power fantasy at the heart of the Armored Core series.”

If you’re up for the challenge, Armored Core 6 can now be played on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Just be prepared for a tough ride.
