Immortality Coming to PS5: A Unique FMV Game Expands its Horizons
The acclaimed FMV game, Immortality, originally released on PC, Xbox Series X|S, and mobile in 2022, is now making its way to the PS5. Creator Sam Barlow recently hinted at the port on Twitter, stating that he’s “working on it” with a smiling emoticon. While no release window has been provided, it’s an exciting development for PlayStation fans.
No mention has been made of a PS4 version, and it’s unlikely that Immortality will be available on Sony’s last-gen console, given that it skipped the Xbox One. Barlow had previously expressed interest in bringing the game to the PS5 in a tweet back in May 2023, stating that it sounded like a good idea.
Immortality is approaching its one-year anniversary since its initial release on August 30, 2022, for Xbox Series X|S and PC. A mobile version was also later released by Netflix in November 2022.
The game has garnered acclaim for its unique storytelling approach, utilizing full-motion video and earning an impressive average score of 88 on OpenCritic. Immortality marks Barlow’s third venture into the FMV genre, following the success of Her Story and Telling Lies, both known for their puzzle-like narratives that skillfully incorporate videos of real actors.
