Starfield: Guide to Unlocking Doors in the Abandoned Asteroid Mine
Welcome to the vast galaxy of adventure in Starfield! While you have the freedom to explore most of the galaxy, there are certain missions that require you to solve puzzles and navigate through confined spaces. One such mission is the Abandoned Asteroid Mine, which is part of a longer faction mission. In this guide, we will show you how to unlock the locked doors in the Abandoned Asteroid Mine in Starfield.
Visiting the Abandoned Asteroid Mine
The Abandoned Asteroid Mine is a location you will visit during the Surgical Strike mission. This is a faction mission that you undertake while working for the Freestar Collective Rangers. Towards the end of the mission, you will need to make your way through the mine to meet a contact. To unlock the locked doors in the Abandoned Asteroid Mine, you have two options—burn away the pins or activate remote switches.
Solving Emergency Cuttable Walls
The Abandoned Asteroid Mine consists of various door types that may block your progress. Some doors are made of sturdy metal and cannot be picked. If you come across a door with four protruding hinges, known as an Emergency Cuttable Wall, you can use your Cutter tool to unlock it. By burning away all four hinges, the door will weaken and fall, allowing you to proceed.
Remote Access Doors
Another door type you may encounter does not have any visible weaknesses. However, if you examine your surroundings closely, you will spot a red cable connected to the top of the door frame. Follow this red cable to its source, which will lead you to a building with a Remote Security Door Computer. Use your Digipick to access the computer and remotely open the door. Once opened, follow the cable back to proceed through the newly unlocked door.
It’s important to note that you may encounter multiple instances of each type of locked door. Before attempting to unlock these doors, make sure to eliminate any patrolling enemies and turrets in the area.
