Starbreeze Studios Unveils New Payday 3 Characters and DLC Roadmap

Developer Starbreeze Studios has just released an adrenaline-pumping trailer for Payday 3, showcasing a fresh face and the return of a fan-favorite character. In addition, the studio has also shared its DLC plans for the highly-anticipated sequel, which is set to launch on September 21 for PlayStation 5, PC, and Xbox Series X|S.

New Characters and Their Roles

According to a report by VGC, the latest trailer for Payday 3 introduces players to the newly unveiled characters, Pearl and Snow, who will join the game’s launch lineup. Joy, a familiar face from Payday 2, will make her comeback as the group’s hacker. Meanwhile, Pearl, an expert con artist and infiltrator, will bring her unique skills to the table. The trailer showcases the pair executing a portside heist, encountering obstacles along the way and fighting off waves of responding officers in their thrilling escape.

Exciting DLC Plans

Accompanying the announcement of the new characters, Starbreeze has unveiled its DLC roadmap for Payday 3. In a recent Twitter post from the official Payday 3 account, the developer outlined its plans for quarterly DLC releases between the game’s launch and Fall 2024. While specific details regarding the content of the DLC have not been shared, there is speculation that players may see the gang embark on heists outside the game’s main setting of New York City in an entirely new location.

Open Beta and Platform Availability

Players eager to get a taste of Payday 3 before its official launch on September 21 can participate in the open beta, which began today and runs until September 11. However, it’s worth noting that the beta is only available on PC and Xbox Series X|S, as the closed beta for PS5 has not been made available for reasons that remain unclear. Unfortunately, PS5 players will have to wait until the game’s release to experience the new characters, Joy and Pearl, alongside their criminal associates.
