Roblox Coming to PS5 and PS4 in October 2023

The highly popular game, Roblox, will soon be available on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4, marking an end to its Xbox console exclusivity. While a release date has not been officially announced, Roblox is scheduled to arrive on PS5 and PS4 in October 2023. This exciting news was confirmed during the recent Roblox Developers Conference (RDC).

Their History with PlayStation

Previously, Roblox was not available on PlayStation platforms due to concerns regarding potential child exploitation within the app’s content. However, during the Microsoft and Activision vs. FTC court battle earlier this year, Sony’s head, Jim Ryan, disclosed that the company had revised its policies to make way for Roblox on their consoles. With these policy adjustments, all of the experiences currently enjoyed on mobile, PC, and Xbox will soon be accessible on PlayStation consoles upon the game’s release.

Expanding to Other Platforms

In addition to PlayStation, Roblox is also set to launch on Meta Quest later this month, following a successful open beta period. The Xbox version will also receive an update, enhancing the user experience through a fresh appearance, improved content recommendations, and more frequent updates to keep players engaged.

The Uncertain Future of Nintendo Switch

While the release on PlayStation has been confirmed, there is still uncertainty surrounding a potential release on the Nintendo Switch. During the RDC, no mention was made of the Nintendo platform, and Roblox CTO Dan Sturman stated that there were currently no plans to bring the game to Switch. However, Sturman believes that Roblox is capable of running on the Nintendo Switch as it stands.
