Genshin Impact Composer Yu-Peng Chen Leaves HoYo-MiX Studio
Genshin Impact has captivated players with its expansive soundtrack, featuring an impressive array of tunes spanning the game’s five regions. Whether it’s the exhilarating battle themes, peaceful town melodies, or enchanting character motifs, every Genshin Impact fan has their favorite track to hum along to. However, it comes as a sad news that Yu-Peng Chen, one of the masterminds behind these iconic compositions, has announced his departure from HoYo-MiX.
Chen was a prominent composer at HoYo-MiX, the music studio responsible for creating original music for various games within the HoYoverse, such as Honkai Impact 3rd, Honkai: Star Rail, and Tears of Themis. Other talented composers within the studio include Qian Ding, Jiade He, Yijun Jiang, Simai Wang, Dimeng Yuan, and Xin Zhao. In a recent Weibo post, Chen expressed his decision to part ways with HoYo-MiX and pursue new musical endeavors, while still remaining a devoted Genshin Impact player.
The translated version of Chen’s heartfelt statement on Weibo, shared by Reddit user /u/Wonderful-Lab7375, reads: “Sorry to disturb everyone! According to my own creative schedule, and after some careful consideration, alongside multiple discussions with the company (miHoYo), I have decided to leave miHoYo and the HoYo-MiX team to continue my pursuit of my musical dreams! To see my fellow colleagues at HoYo-MiX continued growth, and seeing Genshin Impact’s music come all this way (Fontaine’s music is really amazing ?), I can’t help but think about all the help I received from my colleagues and the company during music production… it is truly a beautiful and unforgettable experience!”
Fortunately, despite Chen’s departure, HoYo-MiX still retains many talented composers and producers. It’s worth mentioning that Chen did not contribute to the music for Fontaine, the latest region in Genshin Impact. So, fans can rest assured that the game’s music will continue to maintain its high quality. For the full translated statement, check out Reddit.
