Having trustworthy companions in Starfield can greatly enhance your journey and make it less lonely in the vastness of space. Interacting with NPCs and making choices will affect your companions’ Affinity level. But it’s not always easy to determine how your companions feel about you. If you’re looking for a way to check their relationship levels, here’s a helpful guide for checking companion Affinity in Starfield.

How to Check the Affinity of Your Companions in Starfield

Throughout your adventures with your chosen companion, their Affinity level towards you will change based on your decisions and actions. This can lead to a strong friendship or even a romantic relationship. It also contributes to unlocking the ‘Starcrossed’ achievement, which requires reaching the maximum level of relationship with a companion.

Unfortunately, Starfield does not provide a clear in-game indicator to check your Affinity level with a companion. You’ll have to rely on their responses and actions to gauge their feelings towards you. They may ‘like’ or ‘love’ what you do or say, or ‘dislike’ or ‘hate’ it. Each response has a hidden numerical value, and earning more points increases your companion’s loyalty. Conversely, losing points adds to their ‘Anger’ meter and makes them more likely to leave. The game has four different levels of Affinity:

  • 0 – Neutral
  • 1 – Friendship
  • 2 – Affection
  • 3 – Commitment

However, if you’re playing the PC version of Starfield, you can use Console Command Tools to check and even modify a companion’s Affinity level. This cannot be done on Xbox consoles. Keep in mind that using the console commands is considered cheating and will disable your ability to earn and store achievements.

If you’re willing to take the risk, here’s how to check your companion’s Affinity:

  • While running the game, open Console Commands by pressing the (~) or (‘) key.
  • Select your companion (their in-game ID will resemble ‘NPC_AndrejaREF (000059A9)’).
  • Type ‘GetAV COM_Affinity’ to check their Affinity.
  • Type ‘GetAV COM_AffinityLevel’ to check their Affinity level.
  • Type ‘GetAV COM_AngerLevel’ to check their Anger level.

If you want to adjust these levels, use the following commands:

  • Have the companion you want to adjust selected in Console Commands.
  • Type ‘SetAV COM_AffinityLevel’ followed by the number 0, 1, 2, or 3 (without brackets).
  • This will affect the companion’s exact feelings towards you, corresponding to the levels explained above.
  • Type ‘SetAV COM_Affinity’ followed by any number from 0 to 1300 (without brackets).
  • This will adjust the companion’s general feeling towards you.
  • Type ‘SetAV COM_AngerLevel’ followed by the number 0, 1, or 2 (without brackets).
  • This will modify the companion’s level of anger towards you.

That wraps up our guide on how to check companion relationship levels in Starfield. We hope you find this information helpful. Let us know if you decide to use these commands and how they impact your gameplay experience.
