Pokémon Go Community Day: Grubbin Event Details and Tips
Pokémon Go trainers, get ready for an exciting Grubbin Community Day event taking place on September 23rd from 2-5 p.m. in your local time. During this event, you’ll have the opportunity to encounter a large number of Grubbin Pokémon, with an increased chance of finding the elusive shiny variant. Additionally, there are several other bonuses and perks to make the most of this special occasion. Here’s all you need to know:
Catching a Shiny Grubbin
According to research conducted by The Silph Road (via Wayback Machine), the shiny rates for Community Days are approximately 1 in 24. This means that if you actively play throughout the three-hour window, you’re likely to encounter several shiny Pokémon, including Grubbin. To increase your chances, consider using Incense and swiftly tap on each Grubbin to check for shinies. Remember to flee from non-shiny ones to optimize your time and resources.
Grubbin’s Evolution and Community Day Move
During the event, evolving Grubbin into Charjabug and then into Vikavolt between 2 p.m. and 10 p.m. in your local time will teach both Charjabug and Vikavolt the fast move “Volt Switch.” If you miss this opportunity, don’t worry! Niantic has planned a Community Day weekend event in December where you’ll have a chance to evolve your Pokémon and obtain Volt Switch. Alternatively, you can use an Elite TM to teach Vikavolt the move immediately.
Vikavolt in the Meta
Vikavolt is a powerful bug-type attacker and a decent electric-type attacker even without its Community Day move. In terms of PvE (raid and gym battles), it performs admirably. With moves like Bug Bite and X-Scissor for bug-type attacks, or Spark and Discharge for electric-type attacks, Vikavolt can be a valuable addition to your team. While it may not excel in PvP battles, its pre-evolution, Charjabug, proves to be a formidable contender with Volt Switch, Discharge, and X-Scissor.
Maximizing Your Grubbin Community Day
During Grubbin Community Day, take advantage of the following bonuses:
- Triple XP for catching Pokémon
- Double candy for catching Pokémon
- Double chance of XL candy for trainers at level 31+
- Three-hour duration for Incense
- Three-hour duration for Lure Modules
- Grubbin special photobombs during snapshots
- One additional special trade
- Halved Stardust cost for trading
To optimize your experience, activate a Lucky Egg and an Incense to maximize the number of powerful Grubbin you catch. If you have the ability to Mega Evolve Beedrill, Pinsir, or Scizor, you’ll receive additional Grubbin Candy per catch. Additionally, Niantic is hosting special four-star raids from 5-10 p.m., during which Grubbin will spawn in a 300-meter radius around the gym if you successfully clear the Charjabug raid. Keep in mind that these raids must be done in person and cannot be completed remotely.
Don’t miss out on this exciting opportunity to catch shiny Grubbin and make the most of the bonuses during the Community Day event. Good luck, trainers!
