Lunar Ray Games, the developer behind the critically acclaimed pixel art Metroidvania Timespinner, has exciting news for fans. They have officially confirmed that they are working on a sequel called Timespinner 2: Unwoven Dream (thanks, Gematsu!). While the release date is yet to be revealed, fans can hope for a launch sometime next year.
Timespinner 2: Unwoven Dream will be available on Steam and other unspecified consoles. Given that the original game was released on the Nintendo Switch in 2019, soon after the PS4 and PC versions, there is a strong likelihood that the sequel will also come to the Switch, or possibly even Nintendo’s next console. According to the official website, the sequel takes place after the events of the first game but introduces a new protagonist named Auria. Like the previous protagonist Lunais, Auria possesses the power to wield magical orbs.
The first game garnered praise for its resemblance to the Castlevania series, particularly Symphony of the Night, Aria of Sorrow, and Order of Ecclesia. Players could swap their orb load-outs to tackle different challenges. The announcement trailer for Timespinner 2 hints at even more exciting features for Auria, including minions, special jumps, and much more. The pixel art in the game continues to impress, maintaining its brilliance, and fans will be delighted to know that Jeff Ball will be composing the music once again.
