Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty – Defeating the Chimera

Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty introduces players to an impressive battle right off the bat. As you navigate your way to safety in Dogtown with the running president, you’ll come face to face with a formidable enemy – the Chimera. These powerful four-legged tanks require you to utilize your environment, Cyberware, and weapons in order to take them down. This early fight in the expansion is a challenge that players must overcome. Knowing how to defeat the Chimera is essential for anyone returning to Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty.

Defeating the Chimera in Cyberpunk 2077

Similar to most boss battles, the Chimera has two stages. In the first stage, focus on chipping away at its health. In the second stage, it’s time for an all-out assault. Prepare to take cover and be strategic in your approach.

Chimera Stage 1

To begin the battle, scan the Chimera to identify its weak points, which are located at various vents and joints on its body. Once identified, retreat to the upper balcony that surrounds the arena. This vantage point provides both distance and cover, allowing you to start weakening the Chimera.

Focus on its weak points with short bursts of fire, using your most powerful weapon. Aim for the joints on its legs, employing an explosive sniper rifle or precision rifle for maximum damage. It’s important to be precise and take advantage of moments when the Chimera is vulnerable.

Beware of the rockets it launches, as they can destroy your cover and make the fight more challenging. Additionally, the laser attack has a significant warm-up time, so when you hear it charging, find one of the remaining pillars for protection.

Once the Chimera’s health is reduced to about 50%, it will enter the next stage.

Chimera Stage 2

Stage two begins with the release of attack and defense drones. Prioritize taking out the repair drones first. While slow-moving, they need to be eliminated quickly to minimize the Chimera’s health regeneration.

Once the drones are dealt with, resume targeting the weak points. Scan the Chimera again to locate them. It is recommended to focus on its optics, located on the front of the turret, to hinder its aiming capabilities.

Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty provides heavy turret guns that can be used against the Chimera. If you have the strength to wield them, grab the turrets located in opposite corners of the balcony and unleash firepower on the Chimera.

Keep moving and exercise patience. Take cover when the laser attack is imminent, and when rockets are launched, it is advised to drop the turret and find a safe spot. Cover will not protect you from the rockets, and it’s essential to have sufficient hiding places when the lasers come into play.
