Hello Xbox Insiders! We have an upcoming Xbox Update Preview for the Alpha ring. These preview OS builds include important background improvements to ensure a stable and high-quality Xbox console experience.

We continue to provide release notes for these updates, even when there are minimal changes to the UI, so that you are aware of the updates coming to your device. Check out the details below!

  • OS version released: XB_FLT_2310ZN25398.2440.230924-2200

  • Mandatory: 3 a.m. PT – September 28, 2023

New Features and Experiences

We have some exciting news for Alpha users participating in the Xbox Update Preview.

Optional Data Collection Settings

We are introducing a new settings prompt with this update, starting with users in the US, and expanding to additional regions and languages at a later date. As this change is implemented, you may see a prompt to adjust your Optional Data Collection settings.

We recommend keeping this option set to “Yes, I’m In” to continue allowing Optional Data Collection.

If you choose to set it to “No Thanks,” we suggest doing so only to test the experience, and then reverting to your previous settings under Settings > Account > Privacy & Online as soon as possible. Please note that by disabling Optional Data Collection, you limit the amount of data collected, which is used to address issues and improve experiences before public release.

Keep in mind that if you disable Optional Data Collection, this restriction will only apply during the current flighting period. As an Xbox Insider, all consoles enrolled in an Xbox Update Preview ring must have Optional Data Collection enabled by default. These settings will be restored once the next update is publicly available. This policy also applies to users who disable Optional Data Collection in their settings.

Implemented Fixes

Thanks to the hard work of Xbox engineers, the following fixes have been implemented in this build:

System

  • Various updates to correctly display local languages throughout the console.
    • Note: Preview users may see some “odd” text on the console. For more information, visit this page.

Known Issues

We understand that some issues have been listed in previous Xbox Insider Release Notes. These issues are not being ignored, but it may take our engineers more time to find a solution.

Audio

  • We have received reports of intermittent audio issues across the dashboard, games, and apps.
    • Note: If you encounter audio problems, please provide feedback through Report a Problem, selecting the “Reproduce with advanced diagnostics” option, and choosing the categories “Console experiences” and “Console Audio Output Issues”.
    • Make sure to include as much information as possible:
      • When did the issue start?
      • Did you lose audio in the game/app only or system-wide?
      • Does changing the audio format resolve the issue? If yes, what was the previous format and the new format?
      • Does rebooting the console resolve the issue?
      • Can you provide details about your setup, including equipment and layout?
      • Please provide any additional information to help reproduce the problem.

Keyboard Button Mapping for Xbox Controllers

  • In the Xbox Accessories app, the “Learn More” button is currently not functional.
  • If you change your keyboard language settings while the Xbox Accessories app is open, the change will take effect after closing the app or restarting your console.

Manage Queue

  • We are aware that recently installed titles may wrap to a second row unexpectedly, and we are working on a fix.

Networking

  • We are investigating reports of consoles not connecting to the network as expected during boot. If you experience this issue, please report it through Report a Problem as soon as possible.
    • Workaround: Wait for a minute to establish the connection. If your console still doesn’t connect, restart it from the Power Center by holding the Xbox button > Restart console > Restart.

Please use Report a Problem to keep us informed of any issues you encounter. While we may not be able to respond to everyone individually, the data we gather is crucial for finding a resolution.
