KOTOR Remake Being Scrubbed From the Web

PS5’s Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (KOTOR) Remake Faces Uncertain Future

The highly anticipated PS5 exclusive, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (KOTOR) Remake, seems to be in jeopardy as Sony quietly removes all traces of the game from its social media accounts, including Twitter and YouTube.

Development Challenges and Studio Shifts

Initially announced as a timed PS5 console exclusive in 2021, KOTOR Remake was being developed by Aspyr Media in collaboration with Sony Interactive Entertainment and LucasFilm. However, the project encountered challenges along the way. In May 2022, parent company Embracer Group announced that Saber Interactive had joined the project, leading to rumors that the development had been shifted to a different studio.

Shortly after Saber Interactive’s involvement, Aspyr Media fired two of its directors. Since then, there has been little information about the progress of the game or its development status.

Evidence of Troubles

Concerns about the future of KOTOR Remake intensified when fans noticed Sony’s actions. The company not only removed the game’s trailers from its social media channels but also deleted any tweets related to the game.

Uncertain Future Ahead

The timing and extent of Sony’s removal of KOTOR Remake content suggests that the game may be facing significant challenges. Considering Embracer Group’s recent financial troubles and widespread restructuring, the situation does not bode well for the highly anticipated remake. While there is no official confirmation of the game’s cancellation, it appears unlikely to be released anytime soon.
