Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 is getting a new 3v3v3 game mode called Cutthroat

Sledgehammer Games Introduces New Game Mode “Cutthroat” for Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3

Sledgehammer Games has officially confirmed that a brand-new game mode called Cutthroat will be added to the highly-anticipated Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3. The announcement was made during the CoD: Next event on October 5, where the developer shared exciting details about the upcoming multiplayer shooter and other games like Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile, set to launch in early 2024.

Prior to the event, it was already known that Modern Warfare 3 would feature a total of 12 game modes and 20 playable maps at launch. Interestingly, 16 of these maps are from Modern Warfare 2, released in 2009, and 12 more all-new 6v6 core maps will be added post-launch.

However, the highlight of the event was the introduction of the Cutthroat game mode. While not much has been revealed about it, Cutthroat is a 3v3v3 action-packed mode set in core multiplayer maps. Each Operator will have only one life per round, and the objective is to eliminate enemy teams or capture the overtime flag to secure victory.

Sledgehammer Games also discussed the return of Ground War, a large-scale multiplayer mode, along with War Mode from Call of Duty: WWII. Ground War features linear engagements, battle progression, and environment objectives.

Furthermore, the developer confirmed that Modern Warfare 3 will include ranked multiplayer in Season One. The ranked experience is being developed in collaboration with Treyarch, who will update and modernize it from Modern Warfare 2.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is set to release on November 10 for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. If you have already pre-ordered the game, you can join the open beta starting today (October 6), with start dates varying based on your platform.
