How to set up a 1v1 private server in CS2

How to Create a Private Server and Play 1v1 in CS2

If you’re looking to play a 1v1 match with your friend in CS2, the process of creating a private server is relatively simple. However, it’s important to proceed with caution as it involves sharing your IP address. We recommend only 1v1ing players whom you trust. Follow the step-by-step guide below to set up your own private server in CS2.

How to Play 1v1 in CS2

To initiate a 1v1 match with your friend, you’ll need to create a private server where both of you can play. Follow these steps:

  1. Find the settings in the top left corner.
  2. Go to the Game option.
  3. Scroll down and find Enable Developer Console (~). Switch it to Yes.
  4. Save your settings.
  5. Press the ~ key. (Located right below the Esc key)
  6. Type map X, replacing X with the name of the desired map (e.g., map de_inferno, map de_dust2_vanity, etc.).

After executing these steps, you will find yourself in a server alone, accompanied by nine bots. To proceed, you need to kick out the bots. Press ~ again and type bot_kick to remove all the bots. Now, you’re all set and ready for your friend to join.

Pro Tip: Counter-Strike 2 has been grappling with a significant cheating problem, leading to widespread dissatisfaction among players.

Next, your friend must open their console and type connect xxx.xxx.x.x:xxxxx, replacing the x’s with your IP address. If you’re not sure about your IP address, open your console and type status. This will display server information, including your IP address in brackets right under “Server: Running”.

Feel free to tweak settings according to your preference. The following settings can be modified by replacing x with any desired value:

  • mp_buytime x.xx
  • mp_freezetime x
  • mp_roundtime_defuse x.x
  • mp_startmoney xxxx
  • mp_warmup_end x

Pro Tip: The default settings are sufficient if you only want a standard 1v1 match. Changing the settings is not necessary.

If you’re looking for more map options to spice up your gameplay, we recommend trying out the following:

  • cs_italy_vanity
  • de_anubis_vanity
  • de_nuke
  • de_anubis
  • de_inferno_vanity
  • de_mirage_vanity
