The Van Gogh Museum will not restock that Pokémon card amid safety concerns

The Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam has announced that it will no longer be restocking its promotional Pokémon card due to concerns over safety and security for its staff and customers.

Originally, the card was given as a free add-on for Pokémon Center customers who purchased items from the Van Gogh collection. However, scalpers quickly bought up the supply and resold them at inflated prices on internet auction sites.

Newscast: Why are there so many games industry layoffs?

The Van Gogh Museum and The Pokémon Company International prioritize the safety and security of their visitors and staff. In a statement, the museum explained that a small group of individuals created an undesirable situation, leading to the decision to remove the Pikachu with Grey Felt Hat promo card from the museum. This ensures that visitors can enjoy the special collection of Pokémon paintings and the rest of the museum in a safe manner.

After the exclusive Pokémon Van Gogh merchandise, including the Pikachu trading card, sold out quickly on Pokémon Center websites, The Pokémon Company has announced another opportunity for fans to obtain the Pikachu with Grey Felt Hat card. However, this time, only orders of Pokémon Trading Card Game products will be eligible. A minimum purchase of £30/$30 is required, and each order is limited to one card.
