How to Disable Jump Scares in Call of Duty: The Haunting (COD)

The Halloween event in Call of Duty brings a spooky makeover to Al Mazrah and other maps, along with a few weeks of themed content to keep the game feeling fresh. While there’s a lot to enjoy in the Haunting event, some players may not appreciate the ‘Jump Scares.’ Even as a self-proclaimed horror fanatic, these scares can get on my nerves, so it’s not surprising that some players want to remove them. Luckily, there’s a way to do just that. Here’s how you can turn off jump scares in Call of Duty: The Haunting.

If you want to avoid these jump scares from the start, you can choose to turn them off when you boot up the game during the Haunting event.

If you initially decided to leave the jump scares on but have changed your mind, you can still turn them off. Simply go to the Battle Pass Screen from the main menu, scroll over to the Battle Pass, and press the button next to the Jump Scare toggle.

That’s it! You can now toggle the jump scares on or off according to your preference. If you’re wearing a headset and trying to focus on hearing footsteps, turning off the jump scares may be beneficial.

What Are Jump Scares in the Haunting Event?

If you’ve already disabled the jump scares and are curious if you’re missing out, rest assured that you’re not. Whenever you open a crate or chest, there’s a chance for a jump scare to occur. These jump scares are simply flashy images that appear on your screen accompanied by a loud noise.

The sound is so loud that it can even drown out gunshots. However, it’s not the sound or the image that startles you; it’s the volume. While jump scares may seem like a fun idea, they quickly lose their impact due to their high frequency.

Will I Miss Out on Rewards if I Disable Jump Scares?

Disabling jump scares is entirely optional, and you won’t miss out on any rewards by doing so. In fact, having a sudden picture assault your screen while you’re busy looting at the start of a match can be a distraction that costs you a gunfight. So don’t hesitate to turn them off if you prefer a less startling gaming experience.
