The Game Awards 2023 Game of the Year Nominees Announced
The nominations for Geoff Keighley’s The Game Awards 2023 have been officially unveiled and it is an eventful year for our favorite games and franchises. Scheduled to be held on December 7th, the upcoming ceremony will be a night to remember.
The one category that has everyone buzzing is the prestigious Game of the Year, and Nintendo fans will be delighted to know that both The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and Super Mario Bros. Wonder have been nominated in this highly-coveted category. This is a great moment for Nintendo and its loyal fanbase.
Looking at the competition, the stakes are high with the remaining four GOTY nominations going to Alan Wake II, Baldur’s Gate 3, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, and Resident Evil 4. It’s anyone’s game at this point, with each title being a strong contender for the illustrious award.
Other Nominations for Nintendo Favorites
Besides the Game of the Year nod, both The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and Super Mario Bros. Wonder have scooped up an additional four nominations apiece. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is also recognized in the Game Direction, Art Direction, Score & Music, and Action / Adventure categories, while Super Mario Bros. Wonder has been acknowledged for its excellence in Game Direction, Art Direction, Family Game, and Multiplayer Game categories.
But the good news for Nintendo doesn’t end there! The company’s presence is felt in the Best Strategy / Sim category, with Pikmin 4, Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp, and Fire Emblem Engage all vying for the coveted title. Additionally, Pikmin 4 is also among the nominees in the Family category, and The Super Mario Bros. Movie is competing for the Best Adaptation award.
