Them’s Fightin’ Herds accused of breaking promises as it ceases development of Story Mode

Them’s Fightin’ Herds Development Ceasing After Season 1 Pass

Developer Mane6 has announced that it will be ceasing active development on Them’s Fightin’ Herds once the game’s Season Pass 1 is complete. This decision includes the highly anticipated Story Mode, a feature that was initially promised as part of the game’s Indiegogo campaign.

The news came as a part of a recent blog update from the studio, where they also detailed the upcoming DLC characters for the game.

As part of the announcement, the studio mentioned, “After the Season 1 Pass is complete, we will be ceasing active development on TFH. We will still be able to release small patches to address game-breaking bugs, but no new content will be produced. Unfortunately, that includes Story Mode.”

Mane6 expressed its disappointment in not being able to implement the ambitious Story Mode feature into the game, acknowledging the anticipation from their fans since the early stages of development.

Following this decision, the developer also addressed the impacts on crowdfunding rewards, stating that they will need to “adjust” some of the perks originally planned for the community, with more information to be shared in the coming weeks.

Despite the ongoing support from the game’s community, there has been a wave of negative reviews on Steam following this announcement. Many players have voiced their disappointment and accused the developer of breaking its promises.

Some unhappy players expressed their frustration with the broken promises and expectations, even going as far as calling it “false advertisement.” Others have mentioned their desire for a refund.

Them’s Fightin’ Herds initially started as an unofficial fan-made game featuring characters from My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. After receiving a cease and desist order from Hasbro, the development team continued with the project, creating an original roster of characters with the involvement of series creative director Lauren Faust.
